Hi, I’m Taylor Kennedy
A little bit about the writer & content producer of “Taylor K Made” ….
My family always comes first. I am a Proud Wife & Mommy! I am also Realtor, Interior Designer, Dreamer, country girl, Animal lover, a little bit “hippy” and VERY Passionate about all things Home, Garden & Design!
My husband Ace & I got an early start in this life we have built together. We eloped when I was just 18 and he was 21- after 6 months of dating! When you know, you know…. We were blessed with our daughter, Ivy Rose, right before my 20th birthday.
My husband was in the Military ( Sea Bee- Construction battalion) when we met and we lived the Military lifestyle for a few more years while he served out the rest of his enlistment and this Country. I worked for a Cutting Horse trainer, traveling the West coast to different Horse Futurities.
We wanted more as a young Family. We have always thrived being together as a team. Growing up in Southern California and my husband being stationed there as well, we had an urge to try something different. We didn’t know how or where but we packed all we could in our car, the rest of our belongings were put in storage, and we headed North on an extensive road trip to visit friends and meet my new in-laws. We knew somewhere along the way we would land.
Over the course of a couple months, We visited Portland OR, Seattle WA, Tonasket WA and Couer d’ Alene ID. Couer d’ Alene being our last stop, my husband landed a commercial construction job and we stuck around for a while. We heard about Spokane, WA and ended up renting a little place there while feeling things out in this new terrain of life. Within a year we bought our first house. Over the following 4 years, we fixed up that home. To then sell it and buy another fixer upper. We learned so much on what to do and what not to do in that first home of ours. I had always had an eye and interest for interior design and husband had the knowledge and skills of making my ideas come to life.
I always wanted to be a home stager. I have taken some online classes but I more so have studied so many pictures in magazines and Pinterest, or the way you feel when you walk into a Pottery Barn or a well staged home decor store. I love making my own home or helping friends/ family with theirs, on capturing that “feeling” of being so proud of the spaces we spend the most time in. Always having your personal sanctuary to relax at the end of the day.
Looking back on what steered me in the direction of being a Realtor, was my passion for interior design and staging. As a kid, I would pick up a printed list of homes, from local Real-estate offices, and ask my dad and step mom to drive me around to look on the outside of these homes, just to imagine and dream of what the inside had to offer…. Making the easy decision of being a Realtor was taking Staging and Design a step further. Being in a new City, I didn’t know how or where to get clients but I knew those who would be selling their homes needed the services of staging, so I combined the two. I help my clients that are selling, my services of staging as well.
Today, as an adult, not much has changed. I am still curious and intrigued about design and architecture and always looking for more inspiration to give my home and others who enlist mine and my husband’s help. Being in the business of Real Estate and seeing so many homes- I take special note of those homes that have that great “feeling” as soon as you turn that key. My husband now has his own business and is a residential Contractor. Together we are still a Team, helping people put their dreams together in their homes as well as ours.
Here on the Taylor K Made blog, I hope to inspire you to love the spaces that you live in. Big or small, indoor or outdoor, changing things up with the seasons, decluttering when the energy feels overwhelming or if you just need a little inspiration for any room of the house. I look forward to sharing all of the ways I have made my home, and others, “Taylor Made.”
